Having been out of academics for over three decades now, I always had an inner fear enrolling for any career progression programme. The same fear engulfed me when I read the prospectus of the EDABS from XLRI, Jamshedpur. However, the kind of confidence the counsellor gave me by explaining the salient features of the course and the technical support available throughout the course period, provided me the necessary confidence that I shall be able to do justice for the course, despite my official pressures. The most advantageous part of the course was the placement of the course timings through the week @ 6 hrs every day after office hours.
Though my current position in my organization posed challenges on attending sessions and preparing for the exams, the moment I went through the course, the way the subjects were placed, enable me brush up all basics related to costing, finance, marketing, HR, economics , etc, by highly experienced faculties.
This was followed by application of the core subjects to formulate business strategies at work, which was fortified with case studies from both India and abroad, further strengthened by case study discussions. This has helped in enhancing my skills on data analysis, interpretation and taking strategic business decisions. The faculty have the unique advantage of on the job experience at senior positions, and a high degree of teaching experience as faculty members.
I propose “Executive Diploma in Advanced Business Strategies” course as a mandatory knowledge enhancer programme for every executive in their job for more than 10 to 15 years, awaiting a real transformation in their career”.
